Flash Back Track of the Week...

This weekend marks the 13-year anniversary of the first rave I ever went to ‘Hullabaloo: Big Top’. Hullabaloo parties were an event like no other, and that’s probably an understatement. If you’ve never been to one it’s hard to describe, it’s one of those things that you really had to be there to understand. A Hullabaloo party was truly a once in a lifetime experience for anyone who had the chance to attend one, and I was fortunate enough to have my initiation to the rave scene happen at such an extraordinary event. These parties were full of warm, welcoming ravers and spawned the birth of the stereotypical funfur wearing, sticker book carrying, stuffed animal and candy-bracelet bearing ‘Candy Ravers’. This particular party included unforgettable names such as Marty McFly, MC Flipside, Freaky Flow, S.O.S, and Anabolic Frolic, just to name a few.

To quote the founder Anabolic Frolic “You can't put your finger on any one thing that made Hulla so special. It truly was a once-in-a-lifetime experience for all those involved. Most considered it to be what a rave was supposed to be like, in its most utopian ideals, but yet never seen elsewhere. It was the perfect mix of technology and culture and a collective shared experience between all those in attendance.”

To commemorate this milestone I thought I’d share a little Happy Hardcore song that will forever remind me of the Happy Hardcore Hulla vibe. My research shows it to be the #15 Happy Hardcore song of all time.

In my search for this song online I came across this cool website that has archives of mass amounts of old rave mix tapes and it has the cassette I have (DJ Dominik vs. S.O.S. Round 1) with Hold Me Now how I remember it. This how I will forever feel the Happy Hardcore vibe!
